2009 English
Language Emersion and Golf Experience |
July 12-30, 2009 St. Andrews, Scotland
U.S. Junior Tours Golf Experience is an
American based first class educational and athletic travel program
for golfers ages 10-18 that provides worldwide experiences including
professional instruction, international competition, and cultural
activities. Golfers from all countries are welcome and encouraged to
apply.
The USJT English Language Immersion
Program:
- A combination of focused English language
instruction and educational activities led by state certified
American instructors
- Students spend 2-3 hours per day working
with instructors in a classroom setting totaling 18 hours of classroom
and group English instruction and experiences
- A maximum of 12
students/junior golfers will be accepted for the 2008 USJT English
Language Immersion and Golf Experience allowing for a ratio of one teacher
for every six students
- The curriculum will include vocabulary,
grammar, writing, literature and conversation
- English conversation
practice will continue into the afternoon/evening golf sessions and
during all cultural activities
The USJT Golf Experience program:
- Six hours of group golf instructional sessions
and practice time at the famous St. Andrews Links
Trust Golf Academy and Practice Centre
- Focused practice on long game, short game, putting, work ethic,
motivation, and etiquette
- Seven days of unlimited play on Andrews
Links Trust Courses (Balgove, Strathtyrum, Eden, Jubilee, and
New Courses)
- Three 18-hole competitions in
friendly matches and open tournaments against Scottish and American
junior golfers
- Ground transportation to all golf venues and
attractions
- Visit to The British National Golf Museum
- Opportunity to ballot (daily
lottery) for the Old Course in St. Andrews

8, ages 13- 14) located in Tomah, Wisconsin USA
Thomas A. Chritton B.S. - retired English and
Drama instructor at Madison, Wisconsin LaFollette High School
(grades 10, 11, 12, ages 15-18) located in Madison, Wisconsin USA
M. Scott Ott B.S., M.Ed. - former Language
Arts instructor at La Crosse, Wisconsin Lincoln Middle School
(grades 6, 7, 8, ages 12, 13, 14) located in La Crosse, Wisconsin
USA
All instructors are American state certified
teachers each with over twenty years of teaching experience.
Accommodations:
Accommodations for all
students and staff will be at New Hall on the campus of the
University of St. Andrews. This facility has been personally
selected for comfort, safety, and proximity to instructional
facilities and golf courses.
Each student will have single room ensuite
accommodations with daily towel service. Daily breakfast and dinner
are included and are taken at New Hall.
24 hour supervision is provided by USJT staff.
Airport transfers from/to Endinburgh Airport
and from/to Glasgow Airport are available for an additional charge.
The University of St. Andrews is the oldest
university in Scotland, and third oldest university in the United
Kingdom. Nestled in the city of St. Andrews, the university was
founded in 1413 and boasts a lovely and charming setting. The city
square is a mere five minute walk with access to shopping,
historical attractions, and many ethnic restaurants.
USJT Family Member Program:
Parents,
grandparents, siblings, etc. wishing to travel with the group may do
so by joining the U.S. Junior Tours Family Member Program. Family
Member Program dates are flexible and are chosen by the families.
Often families will join us at the beginning of the program to drop
off their child/children and/or at the end of the program to collect
their child/children prior to returning home.

by families. Accommodations, meals, golf (including balloting for
the Old Course), and touring can be arranged. |
